The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said this evening in New York, on the occasion of the statement by the Kosovo Minister of the Interior, Xhelal Svecla, that he would be arrested if he came to Kosovo without a permit, that he was more concerned that the West was silent on such messages, as they had been silent on Albin Kurti's threats that "the Serbs should suffer and pay".

"I'm waiting for their reaction and the fact that they are silent scares me," President Vucic told RTS.

He states that Svecla with Albin Kurti tried to humiliate his son, but he did not succeed and now he is trying to do the same with him.

"It is a terrible sin if someone goes to the liturgy in a monastery. It speaks of their democratic nature, but in the end, we will see who will arrest whom. Our people say 'who laughs last, laughs best'. I can't laugh now, but we will see who will laugh in the end," Vucic said.

National Security Council meeting in the next seven days

When asked whether the National Security Council would hold a session due to today's arrests, Vucic said that consultations had been held today, before the session that would take place in the next seven days.

"I spoke with the ministers of defense and interior affairs, with the chief of the General Staff. We will do our job; we will see to it that we use all diplomatic means to try to protect the Serbs in a peaceful way. And if they think that someone was afraid of the threat of Kurti and Svecla, we are not fascinated neither by their courage nor their power, but we are reasonable and smart enough to know which way we should go until a certain moment," Vucic said.

If possible, I will attend the Security Council session on the UNMIK report and the one that Serbia will request

He reiterates that he will discuss Kosovo with the Chinese Vice President, as well as with Xi Jinping during his visit to China next month.

"Today, three more Serbs were arrested, and the explanation that someone once mistreated someone at the cemetery, 24 years ago, is ridiculous and terrifying, I have no words," the President of Serbia stated.

He indicates that he is aware that there will be no condemnations from the West, nor should we expect them, because there will always be two sides to blame for them.

"We are waiting for a change in the chairman of the UN Security Council. Brazil has been the chairman since October 1st, and depending on when the session will be at which UNMIK will present the report, we will see when to ask for a session on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija," Vucic said.

He announced that he would attend both sessions of the Security Council, if possible.

He said that he was afraid that the situation in Kosovo was slowly but surely getting out of control.

"I don't know what will happen, but I know when they bring you that you have no choice and put you in a corner from which you have nowhere to go, you have to defend yourself with all your strength... There will be no surrender and capitulation, we will try to save our people," Vucic said.

When asked if his patience was running out, considering all the events related to Kosovo, Vucic replied that his patience must not, but that the people's patience was running out.

He noticed that even today at the UN General Assembly, the most aggressive in terms of protecting the territorial integrity of Ukraine were those who had most aggressively destroyed the territorial integrity of Serbia.

"It sounds paradoxical and sometimes even funny, but it is true," Vucic added.

He stated that in his speech he would also say that Serbia adhered to the principles and respect of international law.

"We are a small country, we have nothing to cling to, no warheads, no aircraft carriers. We can compete, but we have a great desire to live on our own hearths," Vucic said.

The main topic of the lunch with the leaders of the Western Balkans - sanctions against Russia

When asked if the fact that Serbia had not imposed sanctions on Russia had also been a topic at yesterday's informal lunch organized by European Foreign Minister Josep Borrell for leaders from the Western Balkans, the President said that this had been the main topic.

"That was the main topic for everyone, and everyone gave me lectures, first, my friends from Europe gave me lectures, I said that we had our own views and policies, and then those from the surrounding areas also said that they were 100 percent aligned with EU policy, everyone was bragging that they had done it as opposed to 'one country' since they wouldn't say Serbia. I say feel free to say it, and not only Pristina but also two other countries. I wonder why they don't let you into the EU anymore, for us, we know what they won't do, let me joke a little," Vucic said.

He says that Josep Borrell is a good man.

"He understands things very well, but, to be completely honest, those from Germany, France, and sometimes the USA don't let him be honest completely," Vucic said.

Commenting on the opposition's allegations that he is afraid of elections and does not want them at this moment, Vucic said that he actually couldn't wait for the elections to see what the representatives of the opposition would offer, and pointed out that the final decision would be made by the people.

"It's easiest to be irresponsible, and as much as I'm scared, I'm only scared for the position of the country. But, I know that the winds of freedom blow more and more strongly through every strait, across every sea, through the middle of every mountain around the world on every continent, and we Serbs like to breathe that air of freedom," Vucic said.

He concluded that the opposition would not apologize to him even when the elections were announced.
