Vucic: They pressured us over Kosovo, giving them the right to trample our people
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated today in his address to the citizens of Zajecar that Serbia is under pressure because of Kosovo but emphasized that no one will take it away from Serbia, just as they will not destroy the Republic of Srpska.
"They have pressured us over Kosovo and Metohija—do this, do that... They gave them the right to trample our people, but we have united once again. We are strongest when we stand together," Vucic said.
He reminded that Serbs in Kosovo gave full support to the Serb List, knowing that only when the Serbian people are united, no force can destroy them.
"We will succeed in preserving the Serbian state. Kosovo and Metohija are Serbia—they were, they are, and they will be," President Vucic stressed.
He pointed out that "those from abroad" have now cunningly and insidiously attacked the Republic of Srpska.
"That’s why they weakened Serbia, expecting its downfall so they could destroy the Republic of Srpska. That was the goal of everything they did in Serbia—to tear it apart, destroy it, and bring it down so that Republic Srpska could fall. So they could complete the dirty circle of work they started in the 1990s," Vucic said.
He drew two historical parallels with what happened to Serbia in the early 20th century.
He pointed out that the norms established by the 1878 Berlin Congress were violated by the Austrians and Germans in 1908 with the annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"They didn’t care about the Berlin Congress, they gave the Turks 2.5 million pounds to stay silent and got the job done. The UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the Kumanovo Agreement of 1999—everything that was signed concerning the territorial integrity of the FRY and Kosovo within it. First—break up the FRY, find traitors in Serbia to help them, declare Kosovo's independence. They don’t care what the documents say," Vucic explained.
He added that a similar process is happening with the Dayton Agreement.
"Sign it to end the war, and then for the next 30 years, we will break and grind the Serbs down until we take everything from them," Vucic said.
He emphasized that Serbia will not be destroyed.
"They will not take Kosovo and Metohija from us, nor the Republic of Srpska," the Serbian president underlined.
He reiterated that Serbia will conduct its foreign policy in the interest of its citizens.
