Vucic: We are talking about the meeting in Brussels; the CSM is important for the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija
Regarding the announcement by the head of the European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, that a high-level meeting within the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina would be held on February 27, Vucic said that it was being discussed that it should be held on February 27 or 28.
"There were talks about going to Brussels; I said that I didn't see, especially before the Munich meeting, the point of talking. We are talking about it being on February 27 or 28," Vucic told reporters in Munich.
As he said, he was going to Brussels precisely to speak about the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities.
"It's not a question of whether I'm going to avoid conversations, I think we make that clear even today and every time. It is not right to sign something 10 years ago and then say that Vucic wants a cup of coffee without a cup. They are looking for recognition, for the CSM. It doesn't say that anywhere. Implement what you signed and then we'll move on," Vucic said.
He repeated that there was no problem discussing everything, but knowing what had to be done first, which was the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities.
He emphasized that it was important for Serbia to be represented at the meeting in Munich because otherwise, others would be left with the opportunity to present untruths about Serbia, which, he states, they do all the time.
"In this way, we have shown ourselves to be a reliable partner, rational, normal, reasonable, as someone who respects his obligations, so that it is known that whoever talks to Serbia can count on it," Vucic said.
He added that the representatives of the state were not "Santa Claus" who needed to bring good news to the citizens, but they had to enable Serbia to have the lowest unemployment rate while preserving peace and national interests.
"It's hard work. And while most people are on vacation, which is good because our tourist destinations are full, there are no places in the restaurants... and all this was made possible by peace and smart economic policy, investments," Vucic said.
In this sense, he added that he expected revenues in February to be drastically higher than expected, because the domestic VAT was increasing, which meant that the economy was working well.
"That is our job, to preserve national interests, for politicians to create an atmosphere for a better environment for investments, to preserve the lives of people, our children, so that they can enjoy the holidays and cry properly and live better, even though they have a higher salary than before,” Vucic said.
The CSM is important for the Serbs in Kosovo
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said tonight that the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities was important for the Serbs in Kosovo because it was the only way to organize and protect national interests, especially those from the south.
"People often underestimate the CSM, but how will people south of the Ibar, first of all, organize themselves and protect their national interests if they don't have the CSM? How will they do it in Klokot, Donja Gusterica, Donja Budriga," Vucic said in a statement to journalists in Munich.
He said that he did not trust the authorities in Pristina and that he believed that they would not want to form the CSM.
"But if you ask me how much engagement and desire the Americans and Europeans have to work on this issue, there will never be stronger demands for the formation of the CSM. I don't know how long it will last because of internal Albanian problems," Vucic explained.
Asked about the conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinkek, he said that there had also been talks about the Franco-German proposal, which had become the EU proposal, but about bilateral relations.
"The Americans were one of the few when there were barricades, who wanted to hear the remarks of the Serbs, who wanted to talk to the real representatives of the people in the north and south," he added.
Vucic said that this did not mean that the Americans would change their position.
"We are too small, and they are big. But we managed to change the prism and frame so that they listen to us, understand what we do and what we want," he stressed.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, said that having attended the meetings, he could testify that the international representatives were aware of the red lines for Serbia.
"I have to say that, because President Vucic and the state policy of Serbia are exposed to criticism that we do not sufficiently defend our national and state interests. At the meeting with Macron, Scholz, Lajcak, Borrell, as well as with Blinken, it was heard that they were familiar with Serbia's red lines. It is the best way to confirm the correctness of the state policy that we are conducting with the aim of protecting the national interests and the future of Serbia," Dacic explained.
Dacic said that he had used the opportunity to remind that he had signed the Brussels Agreement 11 years ago, that meetings had been organized even then, and that the realization of everything agreed was still waiting, and added that this destroyed the integrity and trust that the Serb had towards it and that for this reason it was important to understand the position of Vucic and Serbia.
Vucic added that the most important thing for him was the judgment of history and that when someone had no arguments, he fought for himself, without looking at the interests of the country, and poured hatred and untruth.
As for Vuk Jeremic's confession that his members had been at the recent protest in front of the Presidency, but that they were not extremists, Vucic said that he did not say that they were extremists, but thought that they were incompetent and irresponsible.
