Vucic: We will never join NATO, we are preserving military neutrality
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, speaking in Prokuplje at the commemoration of the Day of Remembrance for those who perished in the NATO aggression in 1999, stated that Serbia would never enter NATO, but would instead preserve and protect its military neutrality.
Vucic, noting that today they granted Pristina the status of an associate member in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, "thanked" the Alliance, stating that this was enough to ensure that Serbia never joined that alliance.
"Thank you, just so we know that we will never join NATO, that we will preserve and protect our military neutrality. And when you accept them into the Council of Europe, we will have an answer to that as well. That's enough about your lies, about sanctions against Pristina and everything else; there's nothing you haven't rewarded them with, nothing you haven't punished Serbia with," the President said.
However, as he emphasizes, they cannot take away from the Serbs the right to live for their country, and the right to love freedom above all else.
"Here, at the Square of the Heroes of Toplica, Toplica is a part of heroic Serbia, a part that no other part of Serbia can compare to because it has always given us the most heroes. Only here in Toplica has no one ever asked what the price of freedom is; here are our greatest heroes. Here today, I tell you - little Serbia will fight with truth, honor, knowledge, with everything it has, with everything at its disposal to preserve its territory, to preserve its people, and to preserve its future," he emphasized.
The president reminded that it has been 25 years since the NATO bombing, but Serbia still stands firm and refuses to consent to being fragmented.
"The first NATO bomb that killed a Serbian soldier fell right here in Prokuplje. It killed Boban Nedeljkovic. His father said one thing with which, it seems to me, every father lies down and wakes up, especially in difficult times. And that is - what is more important to you? Your child, your son, or your country? Your child or your homeland? Even when the most terrible thing that could happen to him happened, he couldn't answer that question," Vucic said.
He emphasized that they had killed Boban because they had wanted to destroy Serbia, to tear it apart.
"They think they have succeeded in that. It's been 25 years and we still stand firm. We still refuse to consent to the fragmentation of Serbia. There is a small nation in Europe, in a small country, on a small territory, that still proudly and dignifiedly holds its ground, that refuses to accept occupation and orders from abroad. A small but proud nation that wants a future for itself and its children as its people have determined and chosen," Vucic concluded.
