Woelk: Kosovo needs 62 years for EU membership, Serbia 40, and Bosnia and Herzegovina is the farthest away

Associate to the European Parliament, Federica Woelk, has published a projection on the perspective of Western Balkan countries' EU membership, stating that Kosovo would need 62 years, and Serbia 40 years to join the EU, with a comment that "Serbia needs way more".

Woelk shared a table on the social network "X," indicating that Montenegro is the closest to the EU, needing 38 years, while Bosnia and Herzegovina is the farthest away, requiring 68 years.

These projections are based on the European Commission's assessments of a country's readiness to undertake the obligations for EU membership. In this projection, Kosovo would need 62 years to join the EU, Albania 48 years, and Serbia and North Macedonia 40 years.

"If I were one of those countries, I wouldn't believe that anything will ever change. Serbia needs way more than 40 years", Woelk noted.
