Dacic: There is no entry of Kosovo into the UN and no recognition
Minister of Foreign Affairs and leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, stated that the policy of the Socialists was based on defending territorial integrity and sovereignty through dialogue, emphasizing that there would be no entry of Kosovo into the UN and no recognition, as reported by Blic.
Dacic, speaking about the priorities and the program of the Socialists, mentioned that they could be defined as socialism and patriotism, clarifying that he did not refer to the values of a one-party system and communism but to the idea of social justice.
"Our policy is based on the ideals that people can live from their work, that there is a system of equal opportunities for all people, that there is an effective and sustainable social policy, and all of this must be accompanied by economic development. I am not a utopian to talk now about everything being free – education, healthcare – without having an economic basis for such things. These are two interconnected elements," Dacic said.
The second segment of the policy is state and national interests, meaning, according to Dacic, that they will continue to pursue a firm and wise policy.
"This policy is based on respecting international law, meaning that we want to defend our territorial integrity and sovereignty through dialogue, that there is no recognition of Kosovo, no entry of Kosovo into the UN, that we will continue the policy of withdrawing recognitions, and that we will protect, support, and defend the Republic of Serbia from any attempt at destabilization," Dacic said.
"We want to develop good relations with all major powers, but at the same time, we want good relations with the EU, the US, and others, but we also want to maintain good relations for our interests, for the defense of Kosovo, with Russia, China, India, countries of the African Union, and Latin American countries that help us in the UN to ensure that Kosovo does not become a UN member," Dacic said, emphasizing that he was also not in favor of NATO membership.
When asked about the Franco-German document, which is the main focus of the campaign of right-wing parties, Dacic reminded that President Aleksandar Vucic had already stated that he had not signed that document and that he had put forward two exceptions.
"That means we do not accept any interpretation that implies the recognition of Kosovo and that there is no entry of Kosovo into the United Nations. These are fake right-wingers and patriots who now want to gather so-called Serbian votes, and everyone says afterward that they want to go into a coalition with Dragan Djilas. Wait, how do you now go into a coalition with someone who supports that plan and who not only supports but also advocates for the recognition of Kosovo? That is a deception. They are from the former DOS (Democratic Opposition of Serbia), and I think we need to finish with that," Dacic said.
