Milijana Markovic, the neighbor of Dejan Radic, who was beaten and robbed last night by three unknown individuals, stated to Kosovo Online that she had heard Radic calling for help around midnight and that the attackers, according to the beaten man, had spoken Albanian.

Residents of Staro Gracko, near Lipljan, where Dejan Radic was attacked last night, are fearful for their safety and worry that such incidents will continue to occur. A team from Kosovo Online encountered the Kosovo police at Radic’s house, conducting an investigation.

After being beaten, Radic sought help from the Markovic neighbors around midnight, who then called the Kosovo Police. Milijana Markovic noted that during his stay in their house, Radic had said that he had been attacked by Albanians.

"We were sleeping, and I woke up around midnight and went outside in my pajamas, and I heard someone calling me. It was raining, and I went out to see what happened, and at that moment, he was yelling. He said they tied his hands and feet and took him into a room where they threw a blanket over his head and beat him. They took about 2,000 euros from him, which is how much he had. He told me last night, 'They took everything I had of value.' But they beat him quite a lot, he had bruises on his face everywhere; you can see the marks where they tied him up. After that, he came to us, and we called the police. He was afraid to go back home,' Markovic said.

Aside from Milijana Markovic, other Serbs from Staro Gracko did not want to give statements because, as they emphasize, they fear for their safety.

After being hospitalized at the Clinical Center Pristina with a temporary seat in Gracanica, Radic was referred for further diagnostics at the Clinical Center in Kosovska Mitrovica, as Bratislav Lazic, the director of the Clinical Center Pristina-Gracanica, confirmed to Kosovo Online.

The attack on Radic was characterized by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija as ethnically motivated.

"This brutal attack is a consequence of the anti-Serb policies and institutional violence implemented by Pristina and Albin Kurti against Serbs, as well as numerous instances of police brutality, which send the message that Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija are desirable and legitimate targets for Albanians and that no one will be held accountable for their suffering," the Office for Kosovo and Metohija emphasized.

The Serb List stated that the attack on Radic was a result of the anti-Serb policy of the regime in Pristina.
