Serbs in the north of Kosovo erected barricades 16 days ago to protest the arrest of Dejan Pantic.

Barricades were placed in Rudare, Lesko, Ibarska Slatina and in several other places on the main road routes in the north of Kosovo, which lead from North Mitrovica and Zvecan to Leposavic and Zubin Potok and to the administrative crossings of Jarinje and Brnjak.

They are demanding the release of those arrested for no reason, the withdrawal of secret lists for the arrest of Serbs, and the withdrawal of units with long guns and armored vehicles from the north of Kosovo, with guarantees from KFOR that these units will not come to the north.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that KFOR asked for more time to remove the barricades, but that this could not be tolerated indefinitely, because the barricades hindered freedom of movement, and according to him, after Christmas, "he will meet with the KFOR commander where everything will be clarified".

"Aa tonight is Christmas, we will soon have a meeting with the commander of KFOR, but this cannot be tolerated indefinitely and we cannot allow a few more weeks to pass without our freedom of movement. At that meeting that we will have, I believe that everything will be clarified," Kurti said.

In the meantime, the commander of KFOR, Major General Angelo Michele Ristuccia, also spoke out, stating that dialogue was the key to finding a solution to calm tensions in the north of Kosovo.
