Serbs are removing barricades in the north of Kosovo, removing heavy machinery
Serbs from the north of Kosovo started removing barricades, in the north of Kosovo, at Rudare near Zvecan and Ibarska Slatina and Lesak not far from Leposavic.
Those two barricades were the largest on the main road that leads from Pristina to Raska and the administrative crossing of Jarinje. The removal of the barricade in Rudare is accompanied by presence of a large number of media.
Also today around 3 p.m., the removal of the roadblocks in Lesak began.
Heavy machinery is being removed, and with the first moments of the evening, as announced, the highway road towards Jarinje will be passable. Citizens are also dismantling their tents, while the last fire is burning in the barrels next to which the gathered have been warming themselves in recent days.
The situation on the ground is monitored by KFOR, and during the whole day the helicopter of that mission flies over the barricades.
Earlier today, in the towns of Varage and Zubodolina in the municipality of Zubin Potok, the first two roadblocks that blocked local approaches were removed, as well as in other locations throughout the north of Kosovo.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced the removal of the barricades last night after talking with the representatives of the Serbs from Kosovo and added that firm guarantees were received that the people from the barricades will not be persecuted and that the KSF cannot go to the north of Kosovo without the permission of the KFOR commander. The conversation with the Serbs took place after the Court in Pristina transferred Dejan Pantic to house arrest, whose arrest triggered Serb protests and barricades.
Razgovor sa Srbima usledio je nakon što je Sud u Prištini premestio u kućni pritvor Dejana Pantića, čije je hapšenje i pokrenulo proteste Srba i barikade.
