Vlajic: Milenkovic was ordered to be detained for 30 days; sent to prison in Podujevo
Lawyer Nebojsa Vlajic confirmed for Kosovo Online that Milun Milenkovic was ordered to be detained for 30 days.
Vlajic says that Milenkovic was sent to prison in Podujevo.
"The deadline for appeals is 48 hours from when we receive the custody decision. I will appeal," Vlajic announced shortly.
In North Mitrovica yesterday around noon, sirens sounded, and helicopters and drones were circling over the city, while a greater presence of police and armored Special Forces vehicles, were also noticeable in Bosniak Mahala.
Special Forces of the Kosovo Police arrested Milun Milenkovic, a Serbian athlete and trainer in the Kick Boxing Club "Kosovska Mitrovica", on charges, as Minister Svecla stated, of being the leader of "Civil Protection" and of being behind the attack on KFOR members in Zvecan.
Svecla, however, apart from those allegations, did not offer the public concrete evidence for the accusations against Milenkovic.
Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, said today that Milenkovic had been arrested on the personal order of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who, he said, had been followed by the Kosovo police for months and threatened with arrest, because he was a prominent fighter for the rights of the Serbs in the north of Kosovo.
He pointed out that Milenkovic was not a criminal, but a distinguished and medal-awarded athlete with whom many children trained.
