Dacic: The fight for Kosovo and Metohija is a priority for all members of the Government
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, pointed out that the fight for Kosovo and Metohija and the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia had been the most important segment of the work of his department in the first six months, and that it would continue to be so in the future, RTV reports.
"For every ministry, every member of the Government, Kosovo and Metohija is the priority of their engagement because it is our most important state issue. Kosovo and Metohija, as part of Serbia, is a matter of our internal relations and decisions, but the violation of our sovereignty and territorial integrity is the most difficult thing that can happen to any country and is very much connected to external factors," Dacic told Tanjug on the occasion of the six months of work of the Government of Serbia.
He emphasized that the citizens of Serbia were witnessing how much effort the country was making to preserve its integrity, and pointed out that this did not only last for six months, as long as this government lasted, but for years, reminding also that 10 years had passed since the adoption of the Brussels Agreement, and that the Community of Serb-majority municipalities had not been formed yet.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and he personally participated in all their capacities in the implementation of the common state policy regarding Kosovo.
"It is the priority of our diplomacy even today and six months ago, as it was 10 years ago. The issue of Kosovo and Metohija has been internationalized a long time ago, long before this government and this president," Dacic said.
As he said, it was not possible to find a solution without a dialogue with everyone involved.
"And how Serbia conducts that dialogue is the answer to the question of what the most important result of our diplomacy is. The result is that without Serbia and its voice, our most important issue cannot be resolved, the result is that everyone has full respect for Serbia, regardless of the pressures that have not stopped in the past ten years; they have only intensified," Dacic said.
He states that Serbia has never had greater pressures regarding Kosovo if we do not count the bombing in 1999 and that these pressures are strong because Serbia demands respect for its interests and does not give in when someone attacks them or plans to deny them.
"There is no other way to conduct diplomacy and politics in general regarding Kosovo and Metohija except the way President Vucic conducts it, together with us who participate in the creation and implementation of that policy. There may be other ways, but they would not be wise or patriotic. In this regard, I also participate in the UN Security Council session, dedicated to Kosovo and Metohija, because it is one of the most important places where we defend our interests and our sovereignty, and we demand that solutions be reached through dialogue, and not through pressure," Dacic said.
