Dacic: Pristina is more likely to open an embassy on the Moon than in Belgrade
The Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic, responded to the fact that the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo lists Serbia in the embassy section by emphasizing that Pristina was more likely to open an embassy on the Moon than in Belgrade.
Dacic says that this is a brutal lie and stresses that Pristina does not have, cannot have, and will never have its diplomatic representation in Belgrade, regardless of how they may try to present it to their public.
"In Belgrade, 72 foreign diplomatic-consular missions at the embassy level are accredited, representing sovereign and independent states, which self-proclaimed Kosovo is not, nor will it ever be," the head of Serbian diplomacy noted.
He adds that during the technical dialogue conducted since 2008, Belgrade and Pristina agreed to send liaison officers who are physically located in the premises of the EU delegations in Belgrade and Pristina. Liaison officers do not have diplomatic status, Dacic clarified, and they do not pave the way for opening embassies but are tasked with facilitating mutual communication and overseeing the implementation of agreements reached.
"There has never been any discussion of opening embassies or granting the authorities held by embassies. To build upon this science fiction spirit from Pristina, I want to tell them that they are more likely to open an embassy on the Moon than in Belgrade," Dacic emphasized.
