Kosovo Online learns: Macron, Scholz, and Meloni stated in a letter to Kurti that they were disappointed and indicated the consequences for Kosovo

In a letter sent two days ago to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti by French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the European leaders state that they are disappointed that Kurti did not agree to the EU's demands during the last meeting with EU envoy Miroslav Lajcak regarding the de-escalation of the situation in the north, Kosovo Online learns in diplomatic circles.

Underlining that the situation in the north was not sustainable and had to be resolved without further delay, the European leaders asked the Kosovo Prime Minister to act responsibly and to immediately and unconditionally adopt measures to de-escalate such a situation.

In the letter signed by the French President, the German Chancellor, and the Italian Prime Minister, which Kosovo Online had access to, it is also emphasized that the future of Kosovo laid in the EU, but that Kurti's actions and decisions at this critical moment would have significant consequences for Kosovo's aspirations to join the Euro-Atlantic structures.

Let us remind you that the EU asked Pristina to immediately suspend police operations near municipal buildings in the north of Kosovo, that the newly elected mayors perform their work from alternative locations, as well as to call new local elections as soon as possible.
