Kurti to Ulutaş: The opening of the bridge on the Ibar is correct, necessary, and useful

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti met today with KFOR Commander Özkan Ulutaş, conveying to him the position that the opening of the bridge on the Ibar River is a correct, necessary, and useful action.

As reported by the office of the Kosovo Prime Minister, Kurti and Ulutaş had discussions today as part of ongoing consultations and continuous cooperation, with the main topic of the meeting being the opening of the bridge on the Ibar River.

The Kosovo Prime Minister conveyed to the KFOR Commander that the opening of the bridge on the Ibar River is the right, necessary, and useful action and informed him about the ongoing work on the bridge, as well as the results of the preliminary stability assessment report, which was submitted to the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning, and Infrastructure.

He also mentioned that "as part of the necessary steps taken by the Kosovo government for the opening of the bridge, a public meeting with the citizens of North Mitrovica was organized on August 8th".

Kurti stated that the meeting was attended by citizens of the Serbian community, non-governmental organizations, and representatives from both the central and local levels, as well as KFOR and EULEX representatives.

The Kosovo Prime Minister expressed his belief that freedom of movement, the rule of law, peace, and security are achievable together.

The meeting also discussed the challenges of dealing with fires during the hot summer days and the assistance that KFOR could provide in extinguishing them.
