The former mayor of Zvecan, Dragisa Milovic, said at today's protest in Zvecan that the citizens had been trying to show the whole world democratically for two weeks what a difficult situation the Serbs in Kosovo were living in.

At a rally in support of Dusan Obrenovic and Rados Petrovic, who were arrested on May 29, Milovic said that they had been arrested only because they had been sitting on the asphalt and had done nothing to anyone.

"In a democratic way, we are trying to show the whole world how difficult the situation is for the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. For two weeks, citizens do not have access to their municipality; workers cannot get to their workplaces. Our pupils, teachers, and students do not have access to their schools. Our fellow citizens who live in this street live surrounded by barbed wire and an armed soldier escorts them back to their apartments. People who were sitting on the asphalt were arrested, and the videos show that they did not harm anyone. Rados was arrested because he is a donor, a benefactor, our neighbor, and a friend," Milovic said.

Milovic added that the representatives of the Serbs had discussed all this with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, as well as the EU and US Envoys.

"We presented our demands and they are known to Lajcak and Escobar and everyone else. We will not give up on them, but first of all, we want the arrested Rados and Dusan to be released. The President asked us to remain calm, and we are calm and will remain calm and contribute to de-escalation, but we do not see good intentions from Pristina, because doctors, professors, and political representatives are presented as a mob, as fascists; with such a vocabulary it is difficult to achieve de-escalation," Milovic says.

He pointed out that the Serbs were not terrorists, but citizens of their municipality and on their own land.

"The period ahead of us is full of difficulties, but I urge you to remain united, not to be divided by party or by any means. Let's send a message together that we are together, that we are unique. Zvecan is eternal," Milovic finished.

At today's protest of support organized by the association of parents "Support me" from North Mitrovica, the release of the two Serbs arrested on the day when there was a confrontation between members of KFOR, Kosovo Police, and gathered citizens was requested in that city.
