The Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Porfirije, during the meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of Great Britain to Serbia, reiterated the position of the Serbian Orthodox Church that there was enough room for both Serbs and Albanians to live in Kosovo, but that Kosovo was an inseparable part of the state of Serbia and had an immeasurable spiritual and historical significance for the Serbs.

As announced by the SOC, Patriarch Porfirije received Ambassador Edward Ferguson in the Patriarchal Palace in Belgrade, to whom he wished welcome and success in his work to improve relations between Serbia and Great Britain, as well as between the two nations.

Ambassador Ferguson spoke about the positions of his country in relation to various current issues, and Patriarch Porfirije emphasized that he personally and the Serbian Orthodox Church as a whole were completely dedicated to preserving peace among all peoples, especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.

As added in the announcement, Patriarch Porfirije assessed that the unfounded statements made by "certain figures from the political life of Great Britain" about the Serbian Orthodox Church did not contribute to the preservation of peace.

As a token of remembrance, the Patriarch received a gift from Ambassador Ferguson - a joint photo with King Charles, taken in 2016 in the Kovilje Monastery.
