Rajic: Albanians are bothered by any autonomy for Serbs in Kosovo; Kurti is the biggest extremist

Predrag Rajic from the Center for Social Stability says that the Albanian political caste has estimated that the last twenty years are the period in which it is the political factor that governs Kosovo and pressures everyone to get the maximum, and it is not satisfied with anything below those and such maximalist demands, Politika reports.

Rajic says that this is why they find all kinds of excuses not to implement even what they signed and to treat every issue of an international agreement like a buffet.

"From the agreements they sign, they consume only what they think suits them or at least does not harm them. And anything that conflicts with their proclaimed maximalist interests, they reject or find ways to obstruct it. But they can't achieve their maximalist interests because they don't have a say in everything", Rajic points out.

He states that Albanians are bothered by any autonomy for Serbs in Kosovo, and there is nothing politically rational about it. He says they don't have any concrete reason why they are protesting, but they simply don't want the Serbs to have any kind of self-government in Kosovo or any kind of government, even at the local level.

He also adds that there are nuances among Kosovo Albanians and that "Kurti is by far the worst option because he is the biggest extremist and chauvinist."

"They perceive Kosovo and Metohija as a territory that they managed to control with the help of the West in 1999, and they believe that the Serbian factor has nothing to do with whatever government structures it appears in, regardless of how loyal it is to them. Because of this, constant obstructions, attempts to provoke violence, and fewer opportunities for compromise are noticeable," Rajic notes.
