Rapajic: Self-Determination would not accept a strong opposition figure as president
Aleksandar Rapajic, Program Director of the NGO Center for Advocacy of Democratic Culture from North Mitrovica, told Kosovo Online that if a political agreement is reached on the election of the President of Kosovo, Self-Determination would still not accept a strong opposition figure for that position.
Rapajic emphasized that it remains uncertain who will take the position of President of Kosovo, as there is still no political agreement.
“Previously, Self-Determination did not accept the proposal of the Democratic Party of Kosovo to jointly elect a president. The Democratic Party of Kosovo offered to provide a majority for electing the president if it were agreed that the position would go to their party. Self-Determination did not accept that, but instead tried to elect a president in other ways. If a political agreement is reached, I do not believe that Self-Determination will accept having a strong opposition figure in the position of president,” Rapajic said.
As he pointed out, the Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Vlora Citaku, would be a good candidate for President of Kosovo due to her experience in the United States.
“I think Citaku would not be a bad candidate because of her previous experience as ambassador to the United States and her relations with the US administration and the contacts she has there,” Rapajic stated.
