Shala: The motive for the assassination of Abdixhiku is political, and the Democratic League of Kosovo has no political opponents outside of Kosovo
Representative of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) Kujtim Shala said that the plan to assassinate the president of the DUK Lumir Abdixhiku had a political background and that the organizers were located in Kosovo, but also in some other countries, Reporteri reports.
Shala said that the plan to assassinate Abdxhiku and three other LDK leaders was exposed by one of the leading EU intelligence agencies.
"Today we received information about that plan, about a network of people connected to it who are from Kosovo, and two organizations whose headquarters are outside Kosovo, one from the EU, and another outside the territory of the EU. The communication was intercepted by one of the main intelligence agencies of the EU countries, and from what we've been told, it seems like there was a very elaborate plan for that," Shala said.
Shala added that the plan to liquidate the leader of the LDK has a political background.
"From the information we received, which is based on the intercepts I'm talking about, the motive is purely political, clearly expressed, articulated. We informed the Kosovo Police and other law enforcement institutions, as well as our international friends and international organizations, about this, and this issue is being resolved on several levels," Shala says.
When asked if a political party from Kosovo was also involved in the case, Shala replied:
"Yes, of course, because we have no political opponents outside of Kosovo"
He added that it was an attempt to remove political opponents.
"More precisely, the main political opponent today, which is the Democratic League of Kosovo," Shala said.
