Spahiu: Laying the foundation stone for the school in North Mitrovica is part of the election campaign
Political analyst Nexhmedin Spahiu believes that the laying of the foundation stone for a school in Mikronaselje, North Mitrovica, attended by acting ministers Xhelal Svecla and Elbert Krasniqi, outgoing Mayor Erden Atiq, and Self-Determination’s candidate for Mayor of South Mitrovica, Faton Peci, is part of the election campaign.
“I think it is part of the campaign. The presence of the candidate for mayor of South Mitrovica and the Minister of Internal Affairs serves a clear purpose. This is indeed a campaign,” Spahiu told Kosovo Online.
He considers the construction of this school for non-majority communities more than necessary, but he is not certain that everything has been done in accordance with the law.
“It is more than necessary, because imagine people from the far north of the municipality having to take their six- or seven-year-old children to the southern side. Why shouldn’t they have a school in the north? So, it is absolutely necessary, and it is unfortunate that it hasn’t been done until now. Whether these actions were carried out in line with the law or not, I cannot say, but the school is certainly much needed,” Spahiu emphasized.
