Tahiri: Kurti blames others for failures and credits the accomplishments of independent agencies

The head of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Abelard Tahiri, says that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti blames others for his failures, and credits the accomplishments of independent agencies in the fight against organized crime and corruption to himself.

Tahiri asked on Facebook what accomplishment Kurti had in the operations of the police, prosecution, and other agencies when these institutions were independent in the investigation.

"What role did Kurti's government play in the 854 police operation? For information, 1,156 police operations were carried out in 2019 thanks to the professional work of the police, prosecutor's office, and others. As then and today, every achievement in the fight against crime is the credit of institutions and agencies," Tahiri says.

He adds that Kurti claimed to have closed 16 illegal roads, but for 19 days he had blocked members of the Kosovo Police who had not only been at risk of possible attacks but had been forced to sleep on the floor of the car, without regular food and medicine.

"Kurti said that he had continued to enforce the law on the entire territory of Kosovo, but he had forgotten the barricades that blocked the north for 19 days and where there had been attacks on the police, citizens, and private and public property," Tahiri adds.

Tahiri points out that Kurti boasts that four police station buildings have been built in the north, but that they are actually improvised buildings with containers.

"The government's responsibility is to draft and adopt laws that strengthen the fight against crime. But for two years, Kurti's government has not adopted any policy or law that strengthens the fight against crime. On the contrary, t took actions that actually weakened it. Acting officers have been working in the Financial Intelligence Unit for a year and a half, as well as in many other high positions," Tahiri said on Facebook, among other things.
