Vucevic: Kurti's biggest fear is the survival of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija
Serbian Defense Minister Milos Vucevic stated that President Aleksandar Vucic had reiterated in yesterday's meetings with European leaders in Brussels that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti was not fulfilling the obligations of the Brussels Agreement and that Serbia would never accept Kosovo's membership in the UN and recognize its independence, as reported by RTV.
"There's nothing nice and easy for us there, nor will we hear anything overly nice and easy from these talks. What's good is that Serbia has avoided the scenario of being the culprit, the disruptive factor, that it wants conflicts because that scenario has already been prepared with the aim of not only accusing Serbia but also punishing it," Vucevic said on Happy Television.
According to him, Serbia is ready to negotiate on all proposals that exclude Kosovo's independence and a seat at the UN.
"It's good that we had the opportunity to reiterate that the Brussels Agreement hasn't been implemented for 11 years. Of course, we are willing to discuss all proposals except those that involve Kosovo's independence and a seat at the UN for Kosovo. We don't accept any form of de facto or de jure recognition of Kosovo as an independent state," Vucevic emphasized.
He added that everything could be on the table, including stamps and customs declarations, except those that led to Kosovo's independence.
"Everything can be on the table, first and foremost, the Community of Serb Municipalities and the protection of the people in Kosovo and Metohija," Vucevic said.
He told the people in Serbia to accept and know that wisdom was not cowardice and that compromise was not bad.
"We have to be rational, not give up our emotions toward Serbia and Kosovo and Metohija, to protect it but to lead it wisely through these times where various opportunities and misfortunes happen in the world and the region. Let our emotions motivate us, not limit us. They should be a stimulus, not get us stuck in quicksand," Vucevic said.
He assessed that Kurti would not fulfill what was agreed upon in Brussels and then in Ohrid, that he was sure that Kurti had no intention of forming the Community of Serb Municipalities, and that he would firmly stick to that position.
"At the same time, attempts to form the CSM by some international mediators scare me because it will have the strength and legitimacy of an NGO, such as a voluntary fire brigade, without any authority," Vucevic said.
According to Vucevic, Kurti cannot "digest" anything with the name "Serbian," and his greatest fear is the survival of Serbs in Kosovo, while his greatest wish is for a successful "creeping ethnic cleansing."
He emphasized that 90 percent of the citizens would be most pleased to hear that Serbia was rejecting everything from this dialogue and leaving it.
"Everyone would be happy to see our army in Kosovo and Metohija, but we must know and remind ourselves that we withdrew from Kosovo and Metohija in 1999, in accordance with the Kumanovo Agreement and Resolution 1244, and handed over that factual military authority to KFOR," Vucevic said.
Speaking about the upcoming elections in Serbia, Vucevic said it was clear to everyone that if the opposition, consisting of the former regime led by Dragan Djilas, won, it could be expected that the army would be pushed into NATO, lose its neutral status, impose sanctions on Russia, and declare the Serbian people genocidal.
He assessed that it was the same on the "right side" and that the right had no problem forming a coalition with Djilas only if the "math was good."
