Vucic: Kosovo Serbs outraged by Pristina's actions, they will not put up with it anymore
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said today after a meeting with political representatives of Kosovo Serbs that people from both the north and south of Kosovo and Metohija were outraged by Pristina's latest moves regarding license plates and arrests and that they did not want to put up with it any longer.
Vucic pointed out that they were particularly outraged and felt anger at the arrest of Serbs who offered non-violent resistance.
"The daily arrest of Serbs is reaching its peak," Vucic said.
He added that at today's meeting, people from the north and south of Kosovo and Metohija had expressed their outrage and anger because of the leadership in Pristina, but also because of the international community's silence, and that they were asking for more support from Serbia.
"I listened and tried to explain the situation we are in and to find solutions so that they could live easier, and they are especially outraged by the arrest of members of the Serbian people. It is an attempt to cleanse northern Kosovo of all those who might be able to oppose them one day. I am afraid that some people do not understand what is happening in Kosovo and Metohija. The essence of the matter is the formation of the CSM and the cessation of endangering the security of the Serbian population," Vucic stated.
He said that his intention had been to reach an agreement today and come out with positions, but that had not been possible. That is why, as he stated, he "drew back today" and that an agreement had been reached that the talks would continue.
"We will continue to work in the next seven days so that we can come out with a joint statement about all upcoming events. We will talk in Raska next time, and until then we have to agree on a common platform," Vucic said, adding that he had had consultations and talks with the most important Serb List's representatives and our authorities, as well as representatives of institutions and authorities from Kosovo and Metohija.
He announced a longer address next week, on Maundy Thursday or Good Friday, and until then, discussions would continue on all problems and the difficult security situation, as Vucic said.
"Those measures that we are planning, primarily economic and social, that we will introduce before Easter will be good, and they are about finding ways to provide more jobs for people and help pensioners first of all. I believe that they will please all Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. And political and security measures cannot be simple and easy," Vucic noted.
He added that his request was to always preserve peace in every way. He also said that he was not too optimistic and that he was afraid that some did not understand what had been happening or whether we would make a concession.
"The essence is in the formation of the CSM and the fact that Kurti continues to endanger security and that Serb emigration is carried out in an insidious and obvious manner," Vucic stated.
He cited as an example the behavior of the coach and director of FC Strpce at the administrative transition.
"The arrest of club directors, because our children cannot be in the Serbian system, because if they are, then they are terrorists. This is the 21st century, and the democracy that some organizations claim is the largest in the Balkans. Witty. Their only wish is that there are no Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija. My message to them is that this will not happen," Vucic emphasized.
Pristina's plan for the elections is for one percent to govern 98 percent of the people
He said that there were upcoming elections in Kosovo and Metohija, which "some have scheduled for April 23, and in which Serbs will not participate", as well as many other issues and important things.
When asked to comment on the messages heard from the cabinet of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani that "Belgrade will not be able to prevent elections in the north and that they have a plan B," Vucic stated that "this means that Osmani says that they will organize elections for two percent of citizens in Kosovska Mitrovica."
He did not want to say publicly what Serbia would do regarding Pristina's plan to hold local elections in northern Kosovo and Metohija, which, as he stated, "aim for one and less than one percent of citizens to govern the other 98 percent of people."
"Can you imagine, there will be elections where they will bring falsely registered Albanians from South Mitrovica and elect Sadik, or whatever his name is. No problem. Tell us that Albin Kurti is the mayor of Kosovska Mitrovica in the north because he got one percent of the vote; that's how democracy and the protection of human and national rights work. In Zubin Potok, the same – a complete grace – the occupation in 26 pictures, in images and words. That is their plan A, and their plan B is to kill the Serbs. That will not come true for them," Vucic says.
To those who ask why the Serbs did not register for the elections, he tells them not to act naive because the condition for participating in the elections was the formation of the CSM.
He pointed out that it was crucial for Serbia to be united and agree on the Kosovo issue.
The meeting, which was held in the "Palace of Serbia", was attended, among others, by the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, the president of the Serb List, Goran Rakic, vice presidents Milan Radoicic and Igor Simic, as well as other representatives of that party.
