Danka Spasic, the sister of the arrested health worker Dalibor Spasic, said during the Serb protest in Leposavic that her brother's only fault was that he was a Serb, that he did not want to leave Kosovo and that he wanted his child to grow up in Kosovo.

"Six and a half centuries ago, nothing more significant happened in Europe than the Battle of Kosovo, when the Serbs died militarily for the Christian cross, faith, and freedom. The price was expensive, the most expensive. We paid for it and did not ask how much it cost. Even today, six and half a century later, it is not much different. The battle is still going on in Kosovo and for Kosovo. Dark times have come again for our people; again the Serbs are suffering in the name of God, they are innocent, yet they are guilty to someone. They are suffering only because they are Serbs and that they do not renounce their roots and the holy Serbian land, Kosovo," Spasic said.

She recalled that the Kosovo Police in Jarinje had arrested her brother Dalibor two days ago.

"He is labeled as a villain and a criminal. All those who know who Dalibor Spasic is, know that he is a good man, honorable, honest, a health worker... There is no one he did not help. His smile and his kindness helped everyone. Whoever approached him in Mitrovica, he helped. He is not a villain, he is not a criminal, and he is a good man, a father, a son, a husband, and a brother. This is very difficult and I don't know how I will endure until the end to read it," the sister of the arrested Spasic said through tears.

She added that her brother was a man who had been good to everyone.

"We all know that saying – “he who sings means no harm”. And he is that - a musician and a singer and a brother and a husband and a father. He is a young man who only gave a smile to everyone. His good nature and warm human words meant a lot even to the sickest. And that's exactly how he was declared a criminal and an attacker. He was arrested in front of his wife and his small child. They are still in disbelief and shock like we are. Why was he arrested? What is his fault? Because he is a Serb, because he is from Kosovo," Spasic emphasized.

She added that there was no evidence of any guilt against her brother.

"They don't have evidence, but they have power and strength and they demonstrate it. Why are Europe and the world silent, why is everyone silent? Should each of us be afraid that he will be next? And what awaits us tomorrow? Do they no longer allow us to peacefully protest against injustice, as my brother did? Do we no longer have the right to fight for our rights, did they take that away from us? Is this the democratic Europe that talks so much about human rights and freedom? Where is that freedom of ours?" Danka Spasic asked.

She also asked whether a life where you were surrounded by wires could be called freedom.

"Is it this freedom with wires, where are KFOR members, where are the ROSU police? We no longer have our freedom. Who will explain to my niece where her father is and why he is not there and when he will come? Who will explain to my mom and dad, who raised their son to be a Serb and that it is his greatest obligation to explain where their son is, who will bring us back our night sleep because we have not slept for two days? Do you Europe sleep peacefully while one child can’t fall asleep and calls his father to kiss him good night," Dalibor Spasic's sister said.

Spasic pointed out that her brother's only fault was that he was a Serb.

"We all know that Dalibor's only fault is that he is a Serb and he does not want to leave Kosovo, because he wants his child to grow up here. Is it our fault, because we are all Dalibor Spasic, Nemanja Vaskovic, and Uros Vukasinovic? I am asking all the people here to be with us and support us because we really need it," Spasic said.

She thanked everyone who gathered on behalf of her family and the families of all the arrested Serbs.

"Give me back my brother, give my parents back their son, allow us to sleep peacefully tonight," Danka Spasic said at the end of her address at the Serbian protest in Leposavic.
