British Adviser for Community Affairs of Albin Kurti resigned

The British Adviser for Community Affairs of Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Elizabeth Gowing, has resigned from her position in the Office for Communities and Returns, stating that she made such a decision because she was dissatisfied with the way in which funds are distributed to minorities, Ekonomia Online reports.

She pointed out that in the current circumstances, she could not preserve her integrity in her position in the Office.

"I am proud to continue as the Prime Minister's Advisor on Community Affairs, coordinating vital work for Kosovo's communities, preserving the constitution of Kosovo as a modern, functioning democracy, and ensuring that public money goes where it should. I regret that in the current circumstances, I did not feel I could maintain my integrity and continue to work with the Office of Community Affairs," Gowing told Radio KIM.

In the letter she sent to the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, she wrote that she would continue conscientiously, as she has done so far, to advocate for the rights of all citizens in Kosovo.

"This is a job very close to my heart that I have done with love and energy both as a member of civil society in Kosovo since 2010 and as a member of the Prime Minister's Cabinet since 2021. I will not stop at this job because there is so much that needs to be done and achieved for the realization of the rights of all citizens of Kosovo and I believe that the Government has the will and ability to make the necessary changes and that it is a privilege for me to be a part of this work," Gowing said.
