Hasani: Kurti is trying to shift the blame onto the opposition
Former President of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo Enver Hasani accused Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti of trying to shift the blame onto the opposition regarding the presidential election process and added that Kurti’s strategy is “political suicide,” Kosovo Press reported. Regarding the relationship between Kurti and the current President, Vjosa Osmani, Hasani said that the rift between them began earlier.
According to him, the meetings with the opposition on the election of the president were “fictitious” and served more for public consumption than for reaching a real agreement.
Hasani said that Kurti wants to create momentum for new elections in the hope of increasing the number of votes compared to the elections of December 28.
“His entire effort is to shift the blame, in the hope of increasing his votes. I am convinced that politically, what he is trying to do is suicide. Especially given the fact that it is now clear to Ms. Osmani as well that she belongs to a different political conviction,” Hasani said.
In his assessment, Osmani was mostly loyal, but at moments when she tried to build an independent political profile in relation to Kurti, he perceived her as disloyal.
“Very simply. Ms. Osmani was mostly loyal, but at moments when she believed and hoped that she could weaken Mr. Kurti, she showed her teeth, she tried to show them, and that is why she became a disloyal person for Mr. Kurti. The rift between them began earlier,” Hasani emphasized in an interview with Kosovo Press.
Asked about his possible candidacy for the position of president, Hasani categorically ruled out such a possibility.
“That question has never crossed my mind. It is a political position, which means that political forces must elect it,” Hasani said.
