German politician Zaklin Nastic emphasized that 26 years ago, Germany participated in NATO’s war in Kosovo by using the lie about "Auschwitz in Kosovo," thereby violating international law and human rights.

"Twenty-six years ago, the then ‘red-green’ German government took part in the war against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, violating international law. International law and human rights were bombed into the ‘dustbin of history’—the UN Charter was breached in the worst possible way by instrumentalizing the darkest chapter of German history. Green Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer lied about Auschwitz in Kosovo to sell the war to the public as a ‘humanitarian intervention,’" Nastic emphasized in a post on the social network X.

She added that, thanks to the lies of Fischer and Social Democratic Defense Minister Rudolf Scharping, Germany participated in the Kosovo war alongside NATO for the first time since World War II.

"What a disgrace that the people of Yugoslavia had to seek shelter from German bombs in air-raid shelters, just as their parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents once did because of the Nazis," she underlined.

Nastic pointed out that March 24, 1999, marked the beginning of an era of violent regime change policies and humanitarian interventionism in the Green Party’s foreign policy.

"As was later the case in Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, and Venezuela, it was never about democracy and human rights but about advancing their own geopolitical interests and weakening Russia. Without a UN Security Council mandate, they violated international law and deliberately destroyed infrastructure—bridges, schools, hospitals, electricity, and water supply. NATO used over 30,000 uranium bombs and bombed chemical facilities in Pancevo, Novi Sad, and Bor," Nastic noted, adding that this criminal war lasted for 78 days and nights.

To this day, she stressed, the "criminal bureaucrats" remain unpunished for the killing and destruction.

"Instead, they continue to present the illegal secession of Kosovo and Metohija from Serbia and the resulting ongoing violations of international law as legitimate. To this day, they remain silent about who financed, armed, and trained the so-called ‘freedom fighters’ of the KLA. They also remain silent about the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo’s Serbian and other minority populations by the right-wing nationalist ‘government’ in Pristina. Those who advocate such so-called ‘values,’ justify wars and violations of international law, and allow the perpetrators to remain unpunished are complicit in the crimes committed back then," Nastic declared.

She stressed that this is especially relevant in times when the self-proclaimed "defenders of values" speak about international law in Ukraine but respect it only where their government and political system approve.

"We owe it to the victims not to remain silent about this war," Nastic concluded.
