Sadiku: Hamza does not have the US support, America will cooperate with whoever wins the elections

An analyst from Pristina, Arbnor Sadiku, believes that the US will collaborate with whoever wins the next elections in Kosovo. He views the meeting between the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) candidate for prime minister, Bedri Hamza, and the new US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Alexander Kasanof, as part of the PDK’s election campaign rather than an endorsement from the US.

"I think Mr. Hamza’s meeting with Mr. Kasanof is the result of PDK’s lobbying to organize a meeting between the two for internal electoral purposes, not at the request of the US. I don’t believe that through this meeting, the US intended to send any message to Albin Kurti, as history has shown that the US has supported whichever party wins the elections," Sadiku stated.

He assesses that under the current circumstances, Kurti's party, the Self-Determination Movement, will likely form a coalition with the PDK.

"He probably won’t be able to win the elections on his own, and it seems that the US will work with whoever wins the elections," our interlocutor says.

When asked whether US elections or Kosovo elections are more significant for the US's stance on Kosovo, Sadiku emphasizes that the US elections are crucial not only for the future of Kosovo but for the entire global political landscape.

"But in the case of Kosovo, I think US policy will not change in the long run. There may be some minor adjustments, but not fundamental ones," the analyst from Pristina concludes.
