Simic: Kurti's regime is violating regulations that establish that the right to a deputy speaker belongs to the Serbs

Igor Simic, a member of the Serb List Presidency, said that Albin Kurti's regime is continuing to buy time and delay the process in the hope of arranging for snap elections to be held in December, hoping to secure the support and votes of citizens from the diaspora. He also said that the old practice of violating regulations that clearly establish that the right to a deputy speaker belongs to the Serbs is continuing.

“In this game, he is trying to drag me personally and the Serb List into it through various accusations made by his followers, while continuing the old practice of violating regulations that clearly establish, in Article 67 of the Constitution, Article 12.6 of the Rules of Procedure and a Constitutional Court ruling, that the right to a deputy speaker belongs to the Serbs,” Simic said in an Instagram post.

He added that, in an attempt to stage democracy, the newly elected Assembly speaker, Albulena Haxhiu, who is also serving as acting president, invited the leaders of the parliamentary groups for consultations, but without interpretation into Serbian, which is guaranteed by the Constitution.

“With that in mind, I left the meeting because I do not want to consent to the violation of the constitutionally guaranteed right to the Serbian language while using my presence to give the appearance of democracy. The lynching being fueled by statements from Kurti's MPs does not frighten me, but it confirms that the goal is to suppress the rights of the Serbs and divert public attention from their inability to establish the institutions,” Simic said.
